Perhaps I should have just gone shopping
I got the bright idea to make this Christmas/Hanukkah season a little less materialistic. That does not mean we won’t be shopping. It means that I’d like to attempt to buy handmade or at least mostly handmade items. But then my laptop died and all of the interesting little gifts I’d bookmarked are on their way to North Carolina. I was stupid and didn’t favorite anything in etsy as I browsed so I can’t even use that as a reference. So I may just scrap the idea of handmade and buy local instead.
Usually on Black Friday I do some internet shopping. I’ve never actually set foot in a store on Black Friday or participated in any doorbuster sales, but I’ve made out pretty well online. This year, with my buy local idea I decided to skip the black Friday deals since we don’t actually need anything. So I took the kids to the Please Touch Museum today. As soon as we hit the block where it’s located I knew that it was a terrible idea but Sam knew exactly where we were and squealed with joy. When we were waved past the full parking lot and had to cross Belmont Ave because there was no street parking left Sam started to cry, “turn around, turn around. I want to go to the Pees Touch Musim.” Sucker that I am I turned around. Miraculously, this time we were able to pull into the lot and park right up against the building.
I swear there’s a story here but I have to stop and get the kids to bed. More tomorrow.
